Leaders Are Losing Followers

By Walter | 1 comment

Given the mess they have made for us, and for themselves, it comes of no surprise that political, business and religious leaders are losing the trust and confidence of their followers. Even the Japanese people who have been known for their benign obedience and orderliness are beginning to question their government’s response to the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster they are now confronting under the watchful gaze of an anxious world. They are not alone as rebellion and revolution are spreading around the globe like a wind-swept out-of-control prairie fire. Where will it end?

Chaos Theory

By Walter

Chaos Theory: Most of us have by now heard some variation of chaos theory: A butterfly flapping its wings in California affects the weather on the East Coast. Here’s my favorite example: A man flaps his penis in a Little Rock hotel room and it affects the political climate around the world. (I assume you know which man and his penis I’m referring to.) It’s quite amazing, and a bit disconcerting, that an apparently insignificant event can have such profound, unpredictable, and unintended consequences. The whole world watched wide-eyed with wonder when a low-level female official slapped the face of a young Tunisian fruit vendor and changed the political climate of North Africa and the Middle East. We can expect more of the same.

Whose Fault Is It?

By Walter

As the Capitalist drama continues its descent into chaos, any hope of saving itself is fading fast. In both the United States of America and the European Union, divisions are deepening and the concept of unity is giving way to what amounts to an intensification of class warfare fought on a regional as well as a personal level.

Japan’s Second Nuclear Tragedy

By Walter

In Japan, Mother Nature reminds us once again that we have quite enough on our hands dealing with hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, droughts, blizzards, floods, and disease without inflicting needless pain and distress on one another. And while we often rise to the challenge Mother Nature throws at us, as in Haiti, we just as often soon forget the promises we made, as in Haiti, and move on to other concerns. But the events in Japan are so frighteningly horrific that one wonders

Wealth Concentration Run Amok

By Walter

Without a doubt the Great Recession, as it has been labeled — making it more severe than a Plain Recession and less severe than a Depression — has been caused by the concentration of wealth. The belief among economists, business leaders, and politicians is that we have survived the worst and that the only way forward is up. Gradually, but up. However, the facts indicate otherwise. The latest evidence is that over the past year the pace of wealth concentration has accelerated. Take a look at these numbers.

Day Two

By Walter

Well, we got through the first 24 hours without major incident. But these websites are complicated to put together. After several tries I finally found Richard Trautmann (4gstudios.com) who was able to put it all together. However, aside from a few more tweaks here and there now, there will continue to be changes as I expect this website to be a living breathing thing, with help and guidance from your complaints and suggestions.

The primary objective of this website

Day One

By Walter

Just after midnight, I performed the equivalent of smashing a champagne bottle against the bow of a ship by sending an email message out to a group I call “The Motley 100,” announcing the launch of this website. And a motley group it is: writers, artists, musicians, ex-hippies, activists, actors, attorneys, psychotherapists, singers, merchants, bankers, teachers, professors, chefs, poets, journalists, etc., altogether the most wonderfully diverse collection of family and friends and fellow passengers anyone could ever hope to have the privilege of sitting next to on this incredible journey.

But now that you’ve stopped by for a look, what’s next? That depends on whether you have already read the book, THE COMING GLOBAL COALESCENCE. If not, then click on THE BOOK tab and download the pdf version. After you have read it, let everyone know what think about it by returning to THE BOOK tab and writing a review. Meanwhile, over the course of the next several months, I will be posting a daily blog, to which you are also invited to respond. I will be commenting on world events, proposing personal and group strategies, soliciting support and resources, requesting ideas and expertise, all in the service of advancing the Coalescence. Your response to TCGC and to this website will determine what happens next.

Until then, thank you for visiting. I hope you’ll come back often. But before you go, you will want to register (through that “log in” button in the upper right-hand corner) so you can join in the conversation and let everybody know how you feel about things. Also, please click on the RSS FEED tab and subscribe to the daily blog. You’ll also receive your daily dose of “(r)evolutionary music on the tube.” Today’s selection is “Power to the People” with John Lennon and his army of marching cohorts. Enjoy.

There will be expenses. You can help.
